Talking about domestic violence is uncomfortable. Some will deny it exists in their community or say that it is not their responsibility to talk about it. But the reality is that domestic violence occurs in every community. Breaking this silence and stigma is part of the reason why Domestic Violence Awareness Month is so important. Turner Free Library joins organizations and individuals around the world in affirming our support of the efforts to change the conditions that lead to domestic violence. We support survivors of domestic violence and their advocates.
A Domestic Violence Awareness Month display with books, statistics, and brochures will be available to everyone in our community throughout the month of October. DOVE (Domestic Violence Ended) advocates will be tabling at the library on Wednesday, October 27th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with information on their preventative and responsive services for survivors of domestic violence. DOVE's services are free, confidential, and include safety planning, support, counseling services, and more.
If you need help, call DOVE's 24-Hour Hotline: (671) 471-1234 or 1 (888) 314-3683.
